Provost to Students: Explore Opportunities for Greatness

Students in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo have been counselled on the need to constantly seek self-improvement by exploring new opportunities that could facilitate the achievement of their goals in life.

The Provost of the College, Dr Samuel Akintunde, gave the advice when he met with members of the institution's students union and its judicial arm,  who came to present the Obafemi Awolowo Excellence in Leadership Award to him in his office on Monday September 23, 2019 in the institution.

Underscoring the importance of good academic performance as precursor to attainment of scholarship, he urged students of the institution with good grades and high flying positions to remain steadfast, saying the move would make them globally competitive and create chances for them to explore opportunities beyond the frontiers of their immediate academic environment after the completion of their studies in the College.

His words: "My advice to the students is that if you are currently in First Class or Second Class Upper Division, please don't play."

"I also want to advise that you don't limit yourself to getting only scholarships and awards. What you need to pursue is getting an opening, which would enable you to get to anywhere in the world."

"Currently, opportunities abound for grants in several universities in the Caribbean, South America, Australia and Japan for you to explore to attain great feat in life," the College administrator stated.

In addition, Dr. Akintunde stressed the need for students to give adequate attention to their studies, assuring that his administration would not relent in sustaining high academic standard for which the institution is noted.

He thanked the Students Union for honouring him as he gave assurance that the award would spur him to do more in the task of taking the College to higher level.
