Honesty and transparency is extremely important in life says Prof. Olukoya Ogen
The outgoing Provost, Adeyemi college of education Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Ogen has advised people to always exhibit honesty and transparency wherever they are, saying doing so, would enable them to actualize their dream of reaching the top.
Prof. Ogen gave the advice while speaking during the Jumat service organized as part of activities ending the 34th convocation ceremony of the institution, which held at the College Mosque on Friday October 12, 2018.
He thanked members of the Muslim community for the cooperation and support given to him, stating that the development helped in no small way in enhancing the stability of his administration.
The outgoing College administrator, however, pledged his support to the growth of the Muslim community in their quest for financial assistance towards the construction of a new mosque saying, " as you know I am no longer the Provost and it is very difficult to use government money, in the light of this, I am going to support you with my own resources ".
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Chairman ACE Muslim community, Dr. S.M Raji expressed appreciation to members of the institution's Governing Council and the College Management team for attending the Jumaat service.
He lauded the outgoing Provost of the institution, Prof Olukoya Ogen, for his outstanding leadership qualities and achievements recorded since he took over the administration of the college in year 2014 in areas which include staff development, construction of several buildings, student development and provision of financial aid to several indigents and less privileged in the institution.
The ACE Muslim community chair also thanked the College Management for allocation of plots of land for the building of the mosque. He, however, appealed to them to come to the aid of the community, in its quest for more financial need in order to be able to expand the size of the mosque to accommodate more worshippers.
His words: "We thank the Management for giving us the portion of land to erect our mosque. However, due to expansion and increase in population of worshippers, both from the college and Ondo community who always come to the place to worship, there is therefore the need for a bigger mosque" he stated.
Also in his brief moment, a member of the College Governing Council, Alhaji Lambo Yelwa commended members of the College Muslim community for supporting the administration of Prof. Olukoya Ogen, who described as a honest, transparent personality " whose legacy is worthy of emulation ".
He also described him as Astute administrator and good manager of human and financial resources stating that whoever succeeds him, must sustain his team player attribute and carry the entire college community together" irrespective of religious and ethnic differences ".
The well attended programme, which had members of the College Governing Council and institution's management team including the Deputy Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul and the Acting College Librarian, Mr Akinade Awoyemi in attendance, featured Quran recitation and offering of prayer for Prof Ogen, the College and Nigeria.
