Adeyemi college team wins medals at NICEGA competition

Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, athletic team has won seven medals at the 2019 edition of Nigeria Colleges of Education Games (NICEGA), which held recently at the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State.

The medals consists of One gold, Five Silver and One bronze, which were won in field and track events which include Tennis, 400 metres hurdles, 4x100m, 4x 400m relay, Female hockey, Cricket male and 400m female.

Speaking at the reception held  in honour of the athletes in the college, the Provost of the institution, Dr. Samuel Akintunde lauded them for their exploit and excellent performance.

Dr. Akintunde also commended officials from the College who led the athletes to the competition for taking good care of them and boosting their morale, noting that the development contributed to success recorded by the institution's representatives at the games.

The College helmsman reiterated his administration resolve to boost sport development in the institution and urged students of the College, who has flairs for sport, not to relent in exhibiting their talents in bringing laurels to the institution.

Responding, the Chairman, College Sports Committee, Dr. Rasheed Oloyede, who led the contingents to the competition, thanked the Provost and other members of the College management "for being magnanimous in sponsoring the college contingents to the just concluded 2018 NICEGA competition, which held in Obudu, Cross Rivers state.”

Oloyede also expressed appreciation to College management for organising the award ceremony in honour of sportsmen and women, who represented the institution at the competition noting that the occasion would serve as avenue for the athletes and their officials to interact with members of the college authority.

While expressing appreciation for support and cooperation given to him by memberships of his committee, Oloyede, however, appealed to Management of the College for additional support in the areas of recruitment of coaches for all games, provision of equipment and necessary materials, fencing of the college football field as well as repair of damaged roof of the spectators arena at the college sport complex.

He used the occasion to express appreciation to officials of the college, who took the athletes to the competition and commended sportsmen and women who represented the college for good conduct exhibited during the games.

The event which held at the New Centre For Educational Technology (CET) building was attended by principal officers. Deans and directors of the college including the Bursar, Mr Ganiyu Abdul; Acting Librarian Mr Akinade Awoyemi, Dean of student Affairs, Mr Olaniyi Olaluwoye as well as College Director of Medical Services, Dr. Adekunle  Ekundayo Ogunmosi among others.
