ANAN Inaugurates Adeyemi College Chapter
One of the Nigeria’s professional accounting bodies, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has on Wednesday, 31 March, 2021 inaugurated a chapter in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo to cater of the growing membership of the association in the institution.
In his remarks, the College Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde described the event as heartwarming and divinely approved.
The College Chief Executive Officer lauded the professional association for establishing the new chapter in the College, as he gave assurance of his administration’s readiness to continue to partner with ANAN in the task of improving the efficiency of its members.
Underscoring the importance of accountants in work places, Dr. Akintunde described the profession as very essential. He stated that: “There is no way the College or any institution can survive without accountants. It must be noted that it is not just having accountants but professionally trained ones that know their onions and pass their examinations.”
The College chief administrator urged Audit and Bursary staff to continue to constantly seek self-improvement in their career, saying the move would provide a leverage for them “to keep abreast of what is going on in the accounting sector.”
Expressing satisfaction with the peaceful conduct with which activities are carried out at the Bursary Department “in spite of the presence of members of two professional accounting bodies, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and ANAN working there,” the Provost stated that the development has brought unity and progress to the departments.
He urged staff at the Bursary Department to continue to sustain the tempo, advising them to diligently work more for the uplift of the College.
Also speaking, the Bursar of the institution, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul congratulated ANAN on the feat, urging members of the body in the new chapter to continue to live up to expectations in the discharge of their duties.
While expressing appreciation to College Management for its human resources development initiatives, Abdul, however, appealed for more financial support and provision of good office accommodation for staff, stating that the move would enhance workers welfare.
In his briefing, the Ondo State Chairman of ANAN, Mr. Ayodele Ojo explained that the decision to establish the chapter was aimed at bringing the association close to its members and provide opportunity for them know what is going on at both the state and national levels.
He added that the initiative also aimed at creating avenue where members of the association can share their problems and enjoy the benefits that would accrue to them.
While reiterating zero-tolerance of the association to professional misconduct, Ojo urged members in the newly created chapter to always abide by the association’s ethics by doing their work diligently in line with the philosophy and core values of the professional body.
He also urged them to be innovative “by exploring areas of investment opportunities, where additional revenue can be generated into the purse of the College.”
The Ondo State ANAN helmsman, however, pleaded with members of the association to always be regular in the payment of their annual dues, warning that anyone found to be indebted could be denied reception of practicing certificate.
Ojo applauded College Management for identifying with the association, as he advised members of the professional body in the institution to continue to put in their best in ensuring its development.
Earlier, the chairman of the chapter inauguration planning committee, Mr. Samson Oladejo had stated that the event was organized as part of the strategy put up by the professional association for members to come together.
He thanked the College Management for providing moral and financial support and the association for establishing the chapter, saying that the move would bring administration of the association down to the grassroot level.
The high point of the ceremony was the admission of oath and inauguration of the chapter executive: chairperson, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin; secretary, Mrs. Olubumi Folasade Aladetola and; coordinator, Professional Women Accountant, Mrs. Stella-Maris Kikelomo Akingbemisulu.
