Statement of Purpose
Mission
To provide wellness, capacity building, supportive and preventive service, through counseling processes, regular seminars, workshops and training the staff and students.
Aims:
Ø The attainment and sustenance of staff and students’ mental health.
Ø To ensure a safe, cooperative work environment.
Ø To provide professional assistance and guidance in resolving personal and psychological problems.
Ø To guide clients to make wise and informed decisions in various life endeavours.
Ø To provide educational and vocational services that are useful for right career decisions and exploration of career opportunities.
Ø To equip clients with information about the world of work and entrepreneurshi.
Ø To organize training, workshops, seminars on Human development, personal-social issues and career exploration.
Ø To provide academic support services.
Services Provided
Individual Counselling
Individual Counselling implies working one-on-one with a counsellor to address client’s concerns. The intervention is tailored to client’s needs and further integrated with the work of other healthcare professionals where referrals are necessary. Our counselling services are provided by qualified Counsellors who are good listeners and can be a source of support and understanding and help clients explore their options as well as develop effective strategies to cope with their concerns.

We are happy to assess clients in respect of any psychological concerns and emotional issues that follow. These are some of the concerns which we may be able to help with:

Ø Dealing with grief and loss
Group
Group therapy is the treatment of choice for some concerns, especially for individuals whose distress is related to their social, family or romantic relationships. Group therapy is available to students who may benefit from exploring personal and interpersonal growth and or interpersonal underpinning of psychological symptoms in a safe, supportive environment with other who may have similar experience. Session will include, skill-building, group discussing experience activities.
Counselling with Clients
Ø All our interactions with counsellors are made directly in the Counselling and Human Development Centre.
Ø Each counselling encounter takes place in a private counselling room.
Ø Information can also be transcribed into Braille for visually impaired clients.
Ø Staff abide by the ethics of confidentiality
Ø Waiting areas are available at the Centre.
Ø The counselling centre operates as an out-patient centre only; there are no in-patient facilities.
Ø We endeavour at all times to respect the privacy and dignity of all our clients and adherence to client information policy and procedure.
Ø We welcome feedback from our clients to enable constant improvement in the services we offer.
Client Satisfaction
We encourage all our clients to take active part in the development of our services. Therefore, all our clients have access to our effective compliments and complaints procedure. Please feel free to express any observations relating to the Centre to any member of staff.

Opening Times
Opening times for the centre are between 8.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.. The Centre is open on Monday to Friday
