“Education is the Bedrock of Social, Economic Development” —Provost

The Provost, Adeyemi College of Education, Dr. Samuel Akintunde has enjoined newly admitted students to pay more attention to their studies so as to have a smooth academic studies.

Represented by his deputy, Dr. Gbade Ikuejube, Dr. Akintunde gave the advice while speaking at the 2020/2021 Orientation Exercise for the newly-admitted NCE and Degree students held on Wednesday, 9 June, 2021 in the Institution.

He described education as the bedrock of social and economic development, noting that because of its importance for national development, anyone who has the opportunity to acquire it must give it adequate attention so as to be relevant to the nation in future.

Advising the new entrants to refrain from joining bad associations, he warned that the institution has zero tolerance for cultism, rape, prostitution and other negative vices and would not hesitate to send away anyone who engages in them.

The Provost advised the freshmen to be wise in choosing the right association even though the College’s community accommodates different peoples from different family backgrounds.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Ojo Akinola expressed sincere appreciation to the Provost and the College Management for making the event a reality amidst all odds.

He also advised the students to be well-behaved all through their stay on campus.

In her presentation on College Organogram, the Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede spoke extensively on the functions of the different directorates and divisions in the College.

The College’s Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul while delivering a paper, advised the newly admitted students to keep all payment certificates from the inception of their programme until the end of their course of study because it would be requested for when they come for the collection of their final results.

The three-day programme which held at the Babatunde Ipaye Lecture Theatre featured presentation of papers by people from different spheres of life. It also had side attractions like music, dance performance, comedy, among others.

Eminent personalities who attended the programme were Deputy Provost, Dr. Gbade Ikuejube; Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul; and staff of the College from various directorates, divisions and units.
