Employ Your Creativity to Create Jobs – Provost Charges Fine Arts Students
The Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Dr. Samuel Akintunde has advised final-year fine and applied art students to take their creativity into society for job creation, describing fine arts as the interpretation of things that happen in the real world.
He stated this on Tuesday, 25 May, 2021 at the Inside Out final-year art exhibition held at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts in the institution.
Dr. Akintunde, who was represented by the College Librarian, Mr. Azino Akpokurerie, stated that arts exhibition brings out the intellect and ideas of those who produce it, noting that: “Fine Art has no meaning to a novice.”
The head of institution described the students exhibiting their works as wonderful ones who are ready to work, expressing satisfaction with the creativity of the students.
“The student should be able to carry on with this, go into designing and painting and make a good living out of it.”
The Provost also advised the fine and applied arts lecturers to continue with the making of products (match boxes, palm oil and notebook) branded in the College’s name in a bid to promote the image of the institution.
The chief executive officer of the College also encouraged them to put in more efforts to training their students, as they have been doing a great job over the years.
Speaking to one of the guest, Arch. Felix Adebayo from the Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management, Redemption Camp Mowe, that the same project should be replicated in his institution using Adeyemi College of Education as a source of inspiration.
One of the final-year students at the exhibition, Olatunbosun Oluwafemi David said that the religious instability in the country motivated him to produce one of his art works tagged “Oshaka Oshoko”.
He revealed that he using his art work to call the attention of Nigerians to be focused on one religion in order to avert bringing shame to the name of God.
Present at the occasion were: The Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, represented by the College Librarian Mr. Azino Akpokurerie; Dean, school of Vocational and Technological Education, Dr. Adewale Ajayi; Head of Art and History Unit, Mrs. Adebayo Olaoluwa; Principal Lecturer inTextile Unit, Mr. Akinyosade Akinnodi; Chief Lecturer and Fine Art engineer, Mr. Jacob Babasola Bada.
Others were: Prof. Isah Bolaji Kashem from The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA); Arch. Felix Adebayo from The Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management, Redemption Camp, Mowe.
