Adeyemi College of Education: Provost Reads Riot Act To Fresh Students
New students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Ondo State, have been warned to avoid engaging in any crime or criminal activity, particularly rape, cultism, prostitution and other social vices.
Dr. Samuel Akintunde, the Provost of the institution gave the warning during the 2020/2021 orientation exercise for the newly-admitted NCE and degree students.
The provost, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Gbade Ikuejube, declared that the institution had zero tolerance for cultism, rape, prostitution and other negative vices, warning that the institution would not hesitate to rusticate any student found culpable of such crimes.
He, therefore, advised and encouraged the fresh students to pay more attention to their studies so as to have smooth academic studies and score good grades.
Describing education as the bedrock of social and economic development, the Provost emphasized that the students must seize the opportunity at their disposal to the get best out of the academy for them to be relevant in the scheme of things in the nation and for national development in future.
He, however, advised the students to be wise in choosing the right association even though the college community accommodated different people from different family backgrounds.
Earlier in his address, the Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Ojo Akinola, appreciated the Provost and the college management for making the event a reality amidst all odds, charging the students to be well-behaved all through their stay on the campus.
In her presentation on College Organogram, the Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede spoke extensively on the functions of the different directorates and divisions in the College.
Moreover, the College’s Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Abdul, advised the new students to keep all payment certificates and receipts from the inception of their program till the end, saying they would be requested for when collecting their final results.
Resource persons from different fields were invited to deliver papers at the three-day program which held at the Babatunde Ipaye Lecture Theatre on the campus. The event was graced by principal officers and other staff of the College from various directorates, divisions and units.
