School of science houses seven (7) Departments which are Departments of Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Physical and Health Education and Physics. The School of Science is charged with the responsibility of raising graduates at both degrees B.Sc. (ED.) and NCE level competent to teach at both primary and secondary school levels of education in the country. The school boasts of high-quality staff, (teaching, technical and non - teaching) who will nurture and assist in becoming successful citizens. The school also runs certificates and diploma programmes in computer science. In the area of academic contributions, the School of Science have regular publications such as Journal of Science and Science Education, Ondo (JOSSEO) and International Journal of Science and Science Education, Ondo (IJOSSEO). Both Journals have both local and international recognition. In addition, a number of academic staff from the school serve as External Moderators, Examiners and visiting lecturers to other tertiary institutions in the country. Relevant experts are available for various field for effective teaching, learning and practical participation. The college community and the entire populace take great pride in the academic mission and vision of the school. The staff and students of the school are inspired to engage singly and collaboratively in impactful and transformative research, scholars of the school are having a great influence on the society, most especially in the educational sector. Dr. Mathew Olugoke OJO was born at Asipa in Ife North Local Government area, Osun state in the middle 60s to the family of late Chief and Mrs. Lawrence Ojo . He started his primary education at St. John’s Anglican Primary School, Asipa where he obtained primary School Leaving certificate in 1979. He proceeded to Origbo Community High school, Ipetumodu where he obtained West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1985. After this stage, he was admitted to Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo where he bagged Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Physics/ Mathematics combination in the year 1990. Sequel to his insatiable desire for education, he proceeded for his degree in the same institution between 1991 – 1993 with first class Honour in Physics Education (B. Sc. Ed.). He was posted to Akwa Ibom state for his NYSC programme where he was attached to serve in the Department of Science Education, University of Uyo, between 1994 and 1995. He proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile ife , where he got masters of Science in Physics (M. Sc. Physics) Atmospheric Physics option in the year 2000. He attended Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso where he bagged Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Energy and Solid State Physics in the year 2018. Mathew Olugoke Ojo started his career as an auxiliary teacher in Mathematics at Origbo Community High School, Ipetumodu. He was later appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun between May, 1995 –April, 1999. He later transferred his services to Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo in 1999 where he has been serving in various capacities. He was the secretary, Departmental Board of Examiners (1999 - 2007); secretary, school of Science Conference Organizing Committee (2007 - 2011); member, College facilities Nomenclature committee (2001 - 2004); member, College ceremonial committee (2002- 2005); Chairman, School of Science Conference Organizing Committee (2011 - 2013); Head, Department of Physics (August, 2012 – July, 2014); member, College Admission Committee (2014), member, College Strategic Plan Committee, menber, Appointment and Promotion committee, menber, College Academic Board Committee, member, Business Committee of academic Board, He was appointed as the Vice Dean, school of Science between 2017 to 2019. He was later elected as the substantive Dean, School of Science on July 11, 2019. He is presently a Chief Lecturer in the College. Ojo is a prominent researcher, educator and conference planner. Dr. Ojo is a member of different professional associations such as Nigerian institute of Physics (NiP); Science Association of Nigeria (SAN); Meteorological Society of Nigeria (MSN); Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). Dr. Ojo has published about 40 Journal articles, authored and co-authored 4 books, contributed chapters to 19 books, edited 2 books and attended about 30 conferences where he presented scholarly papers. Mathew Olugoke Ojo is a man of great integrity. He has proved himself to be capable, reliable, hardworking, dependable and of honest disposition. He is happily married and blessed with set of promising children.
