Dr. Samuel Akintunde is the second alumnus to head the institution in the 54 years of existence of the College.
Dr. Akintunde who hails from Ilora in Afijio Local Government in Oyo State was born in the 60s.

He had his elementary education in Ekiti and Oyo states. He is a graduate of Geography Education in the then School of Applied Arts and Science, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo and has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Social Studies from the foremost University in Nigeria, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

He has been a lecturer in the Department of Social Studies in the last two decades and risen to the rank of Chief Lecturer. A seasoned academic, he has presented 32 papers at various conferences in Nigeria and abroad, two published conference proceedings and 60 publications comprising chapters published articles in national and international journals and attended nine workshops.

He has been a facilitator: Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti States Universal Basic Education Boards in the training primary and secondary school teachers; Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) capacity workshop for Community Development Committees and the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) training programmes.
Prior to his appointment in the College, Akintunde served as Geography teacher, Government Secondary School, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State during the national service from 1991 to 1992. He later taught Geography and Social Studies at Yinbol College, Orogun, Ibadan, Oyo State from 1995 to 1996.

Employed in the College as Lecturer III in 1997, he has served in various capacities such as the head, Department of Social Studies between 2004 and 2007; Chairman of the School of Arts and Social Sciences Seminar Committee from 2006 to2007; Member, College Sport Committee from 2004 to 2007 and was eventually made the secretary of the Committee in 2006.

Dr. Akintunde served as Secretary of College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo from 2007 to 2009 and later as Chairman of the Union from 2013 to 2016.
Dr. Akintunde is happily married with promising children.
