PR Expert Tasks New Student Union Executives on Promotion of College’s Image

The Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Mrs. Oluseto Olatuyi has charged the newly elected student union leaders to collaborate with her directorate in the tasks of promoting the image of the institution.

Olatuyi gave the charge at a meeting held with the students at the Division of Student Affairs Board Room on Wednesday, 9th June, 2021.

She revealed that the meeting was organized to initiate a cordial relationship with the new student leaders for the purpose of enhancing better understanding and smooth running of the union’s activities.

The communication specialist explained to the student representatives the roles and duties of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations in the institution and how they could key in to publicize the union’s activities.

She listed two cardinal roles of her directorate as disseminating information to the community and serving as intermediary between the management, staff and students.

The public relations professional emphasized the importance of cooperation in any organization, as she advised the student union officials to build a good relationship with media houses and avoid disruption in their administration so as not to give room for misinformation.

Mrs. Olatuyi urged the student union executives to refrain from the habit of non-involvement of Directorate of Information and Public Relations in their activities for proper news coverage.

The College’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations admonished the new students leaders to make effective use of all social media platforms to assist in promoting the College’s image by encouraging others students to do same.

“Feel free to come to the directorate if you need our services,” she assured.

The College Social Media Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Babalola stated that the responsibility of increasing students’ active followership on social media platforms is not only laid on the directorate but also on the union leaders.

He advised that all stakeholders should cultivate the act of regularly visiting the College media platforms and always make contact with the directorate for proper information against false ones.

Reacting, the Student Union president, Odunayo Gbenga assured that he and his colleagues would ensure they put in place all necessary actions that would encourage students’ traffic on the College platforms.

The meeting which held at the Students Affairs Board Room was attended by the Acting Director, Mrs. Oluseto Olatuyi; Chief Information Officer, Mr. Paul Adeagbo; Information Officer, Mr. Ibitayo Ojo and; Administrative Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Babalola.
