Provost inaugurates cooperative society block factory.

The Provost, Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, has inaugurated a multi-million Naira block factory established by one of the cooperative society in the institution.
Represented by his deputy, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube at a brief ceremony held on Friday November 6, 2020, at the block making factory site, located along Laje road in Ondo city, the College Administrator, lauded the executive of the cooperative society, for conceiving the idea and making it a reality.
He underscored the importance of cooperative society in human development, noting that its operation as alternative platform for provision of social and financial services, has helped tremendously in boosting societal growth and development.
The Provost lauded the giant strides of the organisation, especially its diversification drives, he however, stressed the need for members of the executive of the cooperative society, to exhibit accountability and transparency in the discharge of their duties, stating that the move, would help in boosting trust, confidence and love among their members. He advised them not to allow external interference in their operations, and pledged support of the College Management to the advancement of the society.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the President of the cooperative society, Mr. S.O Omobolade, described the occasion as epoch making and thanked Management of the college for support given to the organisation.
He highlighted list of equipment installed at the factory to include two block moulders machines, 500 pallets, 3-Phase Alternator generator, 2 rings plates as well as a 40ft- container, which he said would be used for storing bags of cement required for blocks making operation. Omobolade expressed optimism of good investment returns, saying ” when this factory is fully operational, the society intends to purchase one big Mercedes Benz lorry, that will be used for carriage of sand, gravel and other materials to the factory”.
In addition, he also dropped hint of plan to embark on the production of Ice-cream and Yoghurt, as well as sale of building materials, landscape tiles and electric poles.
Similarly, he stated that the society has also concluded arrangement with Management of Dangote Cement PLC for ” bulk and subsidized direct supply of Cement to the society”. The Cooperative Society President, sought for partnership with the College Management and appealed to staff of the institution, and sought the support of members of the public for patronage.
He expressed appreciation to members of the society for thier support and gave special recognition to the Vice-president of the society, Mrs. O.A Olajuyigbe and other members of the society, which include Dr. Kehinde Adelegan, Dr. I.A Johnson, Mr. J.O Abimbola, Mr. M.T Fapounda and Mrs. Olupayimo, for various contributions to the progress of the society.
The climax of the ceremony was the commissioning of the factory by the Deputy Provost, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube, on behalf of the Provost, Dr. Samuel Akintunde. Important personalities who attended the brief ceremony include the College Bursar, Mr. Ganiyu Olaniyi Abdul; Chairman Nigeria Bricklayers Association, Ondo West Local Government chapter, Mr. Fola Ayodeji; his Deputy, Mr. Ojonla Olapade as well ad several members of the Cooperative Society from the College.
